Professional Services

I am a general dentist with an honest, gentle and caring approach to dentistry. I like to make patients feel at ease in the dental chair, and to dispel some of the misconceptions and fears that some people have about coming to the dentist.

I have a wealth of experience working in General Practice, having worked for 12 years at the award winning Carlton House Dental Practice in Knaresborough, in addition to 5 years at Headrow Dental Practice in Leeds city centre.

I qualified with my BChD in 2004 from Leeds University.

In addition to this, I have completed numerous postgraduate courses in restorative, cosmetic, implant and surgical dentistry and enjoy keeping up with new advances in my field.

I have a special interest in the treatment of anxious and nervous patients, and hold the Diploma in Sedation from Newcastle University (DipConSed) which I completed between 2007 and 2009. Every year I do CPD to keep my knowledge and skills up.

I provide a full service including TLC (gentle dentistry), counselling, systematic desensitisation and both Inhalation sedation (gas and air), and intravenous sedation (IVS).

This is for existing patients and referrals but I also welcome patients who self refer.

I am also happy to contact patients either by email or video link to introduce this type of dentistry before going ahead with a consultation, so you feel happy coming in to see me on your first appointment.

I am also an accredited mentor in sedation for Dental Sedation Courses. That means I mentor other dentists which are learning to provide sedation in their own practices.

Lastly, I am also able to travel to other dental practices to provide a sedation service for other dentists within their own practice. Dentists who maybe interested in this service, please enquire for further details. It could be more cost effective than you realise, and patients love to see their own dentist where they can!!

Digital Dentistry

At Bishopthorpe Dental, we are a digital dental practice, and this can be done using the itero scanner instead of sticky messy impressions. For Invisalign patients, this also means we can do a treatment outcome simulation and also track treatment as we go.
